FOLKESTONE LIVING ADVENT CALENDAR – December 1-24

This 24 day festival of music, drama, dance, opera, storytelling, puppetry and fun takes place every night from December 1-24.  At 6pm each evening a different, beautifully decorated door in the town will open to reveal a surprise live performance – and they’re all free!

As ever, there will be a mix of community and professional performances with dance, drama, music and more, plus some really exciting new innovations, too! Each performance lasts from 20-30 minutes and Lady Christmas will be back to welcome you and lead the countdown to the door opening at 6pm each evening. Leaflets and posters all across Folkestone have the full details, or check out jimjamarts on Facebook or go to www.flac.org.uk.

There will be a collection for different local charities at each event. All the entertainment and any workshops are free which is thanks to generous funding this year from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund and Creative Folkestone’s Festivals Fund.

ELHAM CHRISTMAS FOOD & CRAFT FESTIVAL – December 11, 11am-2pm

Taking place in picturesque Elham Square and St. Mary’s Church, this is a date for the diary!

Donkeys Dorothy and Della will be there in their festive finery, and Santa will be taking a break from his busy month to dispense gifts from his cosy vintage Shepherd’s Hut.  There’s also a hog roast and mulled wine outside the Kings Arms, and warming soups from the Chancel Café in the church, as well as chestnuts roasting over an open fire…

Choose from Christmas cakes and Kentish cheese, local cider and bread, game and meat, vegetables and cobnut biscuits, and a selection of locally produced hand made gifts which use local materials wherever possible.

The raffle, in aid of Shepway Food Banks, also has a great range of prizes.
