Online directory for local food businesses

A new directory of enterprising businesses which are helping Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh area residents by delivering food to their homes is being compiled.

Companies offering home deliveries or collection of groceries and take away food are being urged to sign up to have their contact details published on the council website.

It is expected that butchers, bakers and a range of other food outlets will be among those wanting to add their contact details to the free resource. To reflect the colour in the Folkestone & Hythe District Council logo, the service is to be known as Purple Pages and is aimed at both supporting local businesses and helping those who are isolating and staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Councillor David Wimble, Folkestone & Hythe District Council Cabinet member for Economic Development, said: “We want to help businesses to help residents.

“The directory will bring together in one place all these local businesses and help them to keep their livelihoods going during this very difficult time.

“Making deliveries will be a first for some businesses and we congratulate what they have achieved and hope that this results in long-term recognition for what they can offer our local communities.”

Businesses can sign up to Purple Pages by filling in a form on the council website  and once verified, information will be published in alphabetical order.

Those wanting to order from a listing on Purple Pages will be able to contact the business direct from the contact information provided on the website.
